About

I’m Melodie — a surface pattern designer and mixed-media artist working between paper and pixels.

I tend to follow what holds my attention. Sometimes it’s a shape, sometimes a color shift, sometimes just a feeling I can’t quite explain yet. Some ideas stay loose in a sketchbook for a while. Others grow into full collections, built with purpose for fabric, wallpaper, and print. I move between those ways of working without thinking too much about where one ends and the other begins.

Working by hand is important to me. I like the variation in line, the pressure, the small inconsistencies that make something feel real. From there, I bring the work into a digital space — not to clean it up, but to let it function. To make sure it holds together in repeat, and across different surfaces.

Original pieces give me room to explore things more intuitively. Collection work asks something different — more structure, more clarity. I need both. Creating, in any form, is where I feel most like myself.

I’m building a body of work that can move between those spaces — something that lives just as easily on a wall as it does on fabric or paper.
